With gas prices remaining high despite any temporary drop, many people are still looking for alternative fuel methods to get better gas mileage. Hydrogen fuel cells are designed to boost MPG and save the consumer thousands of dollars on gas costs each year. These devices produce a renewable energy from water that can potentially improve gas mileage by up to 70%. Their increasing popularity has created a recent surge of free plans or blueprints, being offered to the virtual public via the internet. But how viable are these free plans. Are they really worth their salt?
The Basics Of This Technology
Before you begin building a hydrogen fuel cell you should first understand what it is and how it works. HHO gas or hydroxy is produced through the electrolysis of water and has been known and proven for almost a hundred years. Thousands of ordinary people all over the world have been using these homemade gas-saving devices to run their cars on water since the early seventies, so this is not a new gimmick created in response to the gas crisis.
Your car does not and will not run on water alone. The HHO gas that is produced from water is a supplement to the gasoline you already use. Once combined, the mixture burns more readily than gasoline alone. This significantly increases fuel economy and enhances engine performance. This also means you can save a lot of money at the pump!
Free Plans: Are They Worth It?
If you’re keen to build and install your own hydrogen fuel cell, your next step is to obtain a design or plan. You will find many websites which offer free plans. The internet has seen a surge of shade-tree scientists who are creating websites to entice the consumer to download their free hydrogen fuel cell plans. But they offer little or no assistance once you’ve downloaded their plans.
Free is great! Using a search engine you can find one, download it within minutes and never pay a penny or give your credit card information. But on closer look at these free plans, you’ll realize many appear to have been put together rather hastily, and often without the average consumer in mind. The instructions are difficult, if not impossible, to follow for the layman.
Paid Professional Guides: The Real Deal
Like all things, you get what you pay for. In comparison to free hydrogen fuel cell plans, paid professional plans/guides contain quality information. Many of these are specially designed for the average car driver. This means the instructions and details are comprehensive yet easy enough for a layman to follow. Unlike free plans, paid blueprints contain step-by-step directions as well as detailed illustrations. The guides are accompanied with a full list of parts and materials needed to install your hydrogen fuel cell. Additionally, to help the consumer save even more money, some provide you with details of where you can obtain your parts and materials at low cost.
For those who may need some technical advice or assistance, help is only a call or click away! Many paid guides have technical support either by telephone or email. Again keep in mind that while free is great, the free sites offer little or no technical support, leaving the consumer with nowhere to go if he/she needs help.
There are certain rules that the public, as general consumers should keep in mind. Be leery of the word “free”, research the product and make a decision based on what you’ve learned.
In this case, the decision to pay for a professional hydrogen fuel cell plan as opposed to downloading and using a free plan is a no-brainer. Remember: there is no free lunch.
